The Council regularly sponsors a variety of outings, including hikes, bike rides, horseback rides, and work parties. These (mostly) volunteer-led outings are generally free for BARTC members. You will be asked to sign a roster and a waiver before participating. Please follow the directions on each calendar listing to let us know that you plan to attend, and give us a way to reach you in case there is any change of plans.
Each year we hold a number of special events, such as trail dedications and fundraising events to support the Ridge Trail. Sign up for email notification to be sure you do not miss out.
The Council holds regular meetings in each county to organize trail outings and events and plan the completion of the trail. Read about County Committees for more information about local activities. Please contact the appropriate committee chairperson or the BARTC office if you would like to get involved. Volunteers are also needed for special events that are organized by the staff in the San Francisco office. Please call the BARTC office or email
